10,000 Gallon Tank Car

Prototype Information

10,000 gallon tank cars were a common size in the transition era. Some of the last 10,000 gallon tank cars were built with riveted tanks between the late 1920s and early 1940s. After their heyday, some of these cars were used for maintenance-of-way service, providing water for maintenance operations on Class I railroads.
