40' Drop Bottom Gondola

Prototype Information

The history of the drop bottom gondola dates back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries when railroads sought more efficient ways to transport and unload bulk goods. Traditional gondolas required manual unloading or the use of machinery, which was time-consuming and labor-intensive. The drop-bottom design solved this issue by incorporating hinged doors on the floor that could be opened to quickly dump the contents.
