73' NSC Centerbeam Flat Car

Prototype Information

National Steel Car built over 20,000 centerbeam cars between 1987 and the mid-2000s, introducing several variations along the way. These cars became a common sight on general merchandise freights—often four or more appear in a single train. Unlike many freight cars, centerbeams have a diverse ownership, including large Class I railroads, leasing companies, and smaller shortlines.
