GP35 Diesel Locomotive

Prototype Information

Built by EMD from 1963 to 1966, the GP35 was a four-axle diesel-electric locomotive powered by a 16-cylinder 567D3A engine, producing 2,500 horsepower. A total of 1,334 units were built for U.S., Canadian, and Mexican railroads. The GP35 marked a shift to turbocharged engines and was used primarily for freight service. Many units were rebuilt or modernized, with some still in operation today.
