Over 2,000 of these large-capacity covered hoppers rolled out of the Pullman-Standard shops from 1962 to 1964, and would see service across North America into the early 21st century. With its center discharge and 100-ton capacity, the cars were commonly found handling grain, fertilizer and similar bulk materials that had to be protected in transit.
