Description
This load is a model of a transformer installed at an Idaho power substation during 1951. This transformer is a style which would have been a common design through the 1950s for small-to-medium substations.
This model load represents a new transformer in shipment to its destination substation. The load comes complete with the transformer, a crate of six insulators, and two crates of cooling fin sections. The kit also includes eight strands of tie-down wire for the transformer and the crates. All of the model pieces come fully painted and ready to use.
There is some assembly required for the three crates and contents – instructions for this assembly are included with the load. Mounting the transformer to a GSC depressed center flatcar is best accomplished using the included wire to anchor the transformer to the car deck. Mounting the crates is best accomplished using some angle stock to make retaining blocks for the crates. Use the small diameter wire to tie down the crates to the car deck.
