Description
HD-21 Side Boom Tractor was produced by Allis Chalmers from the late 1950s through 1970s with later years as a joint venture called Fiat-Allis.
The model was originally introduced as TSB-21. It had approximately 72-tons lift capability when the boom almost nearly vertically and counterweight fully extended. Sidebooms tractors used to rerail locomotives, freight cars, passenger cars; “walk” locomotives to a new site with four sidebooms on each corners; move entire sections of special switch trackwork; lay pipelines in trenches; lift bridge beams into place. With excellent versatility and able to track on all terrains, they have pretty much replaced the traditional “big hook” (railroad mounted locomotive cranes) in cleaning up a derailment.
We are excited to offer this model to our scale railroad enthusiasts as in a kit form and for a very limited time as fully assembled, painted and decorated. The fully assembled, painted and decorated units are only for direct retail sales only.
The Wheels of Time model is made of high quality urethane resin track and body with highly detailed 3D boom, counterweight, reel mechanism etc. Assembly and painting is required for the kit.
Requires washing model in dish soap, rinsing in water and letting it dry to remove any model oil release. The 3D printed acrylic should be washed in Simple Green and gently scrubbing with a toothbrush to remove any wax. Then rinsed thoroughly in water.
Initial HD-21 productions were painted in YELLOW with “AC” logo before switching to the “Triangle/Red/Black” logo.
Paint matches:Â Model Master laquer based paint – Orange (Go Mango (K2) 1960/1970 for Ford and Dodge cars);Â Yellow (PY3 “Chrysler Yellow”). Surface primer: Tamiya or equivalent.
